I hope you’re not one of those people who still think that wearing white after Labor Day is a no-no. That old rule your grandma followed is just that – old and outdated. And the same goes for not wearing denim on denim – throw that rule out the window too while you’re at it!
In general, I believe that adhering to artificial rules of style needs to stop. We all have our individual styles and our own rules for what works for us (I frequently break mine!) I like to wear what looks good to my eye and what make my heart sing. Inhibiting your own style because of archaic rules is just sad and makes me want to give you a big hug!
I am also aware that not everyone has the vision or confidence to “break the rules”. Staying within approved guidelines is the safe way to go for some people. So here’s where I come in to show you examples of what it might look like if you tried those styles yourself. And I’m not just talking about denim on denim or white in winter, maybe you’re scared to buy high waisted jeans or paperbag pants. I am here for you!
Labor Day is around the corner. For me that means that the weather will be getting cooler and I will be wearing my jeans even more. All of them, including these white ones. I wore them throughout winter last year and I know they will be on repeat in every season. And if you’ll be venturing into the denim on denim territory, pairing blue denim with white is the safest first step to take. As the temperatures drop, I will replace the denim corset top with a chambray shirt for a similar effect.
