One of the advantages to living where I live is that we are surrounded by farms which allows us to not only enjoy the beautiful vistas of rolling hills and grazing cows but also the items they produce – locally grown vegetables and fruit, and farm raised meats.
You’re probably familiar with the “farm to table” concept many restaurants proudly offer. Well, my husband and I had the opportunity to celebrate our 11 year wedding anniversary in that manner. Only, we took the table to the farm!
We just took that whole idea and flipped it on its head haha! One of our local farms (Brad’s produce) hosts a biannual dinner at one of their properties at a farmhouse that dates back to the late 1700’s – impressive!!
The setting was simply amazing! The old white farmhouse, outdoor lights strung from it to the red barns all around, long farmhouse tables and mismatched chairs.
They provide all the produce and a local restaurant (Pairings Bistro) does the cooking and catering. The food was absolutely delicious but I have to admit my favorite was the Poison Apple cocktail (apple cider and champagne!)
The dinner was held in September so it was still warm with a possibility of colder evenings. I chose to wear this beautiful red dress and paired it with my favorite mustard yellow necklace.
And of course, I had to bring my blanket scarf. It was the perfect accessory to make an elegant outfit a little more casual and farm-y (ha ha!) … and it kept me warm as the evening progressed.
