NYE Outfit

I finally got around to posting my New Years Eve outfit – inexcusable 5 days later! But the only thing I have to say in my defense is – better late than never!  And even though the New Year celebrations are over the outfit itself can be used in any other semi formal party setting or even for a dressy date night.

Coat: Banana Republic || Stole: Nordstrom || Top: Target || Pants: Hue (sold out, similar: here) || Shoes: BCBGeneration || Clutch: Target || Bracelets: Boho Betty

This look also incorporates five of my favorite trends of this season. Can you tell what they are by looking at the picture?  Read on to find out if you identified them all!

I followed my own advice and shopped the after Christmas sales.  This coat was such a great deal (under $80!) that I couldn’t pass it up.  And it has my first on-trend element – a fur collar which is removable so the coat will continue to be current even after the trend passes!

The fur collar on the coat was great but not enough, I wanted more!  So I got an even larger fur stole that I could drape over my shoulders when I wasn’t wearing the coat.  As I said faux fur is big this year! Huge!

All over lace is the second trend in this outfit.  I wore it a lot this season and talked about it here and here.  It contributes softness and femininity to the otherwise edgy vibe of the whole look. This top was very affordable but it did need a black tank underneath because it didn’t come lined.

The third element is a crowd favorite – the faux leather pants. Even though I have worn them with casual outfits here and here, they are the perfect dressed up and more youthful alternative to a dress or skirt.

The corset lace-up booties are the fourth trend in this outfit.  This type of detail was most frequently seen with tops and sweaters this season but I loved it on the shoes as well.  And yes, wearing sandals in winter is crazy but in this case they’re totally a “car-to-bar” type shoe! If you’re going to be walking around in the cold, please go for a more sensible alternative (like a closed toe black suede bootie.)

And the final and fifth trend in this outfit is the metalic finish of the clutch.  Gold, silver, and gunmetal have been a mainstay in fall and winter fashion and they add that good amount of sparkle to a party outfit which on NYE is generally achieved with sequins.
