Red Gingham Sandals and Mixing Patterns

Betsey Johnson Red Gingham Sandals, Round Bamboo Bag

These Betsey Johnson red gingham sandals are a great way to put a finishing bow on your outfit … literally! They have ankle wraps that you fasten into a bow that you can put in the front (I did that here), the back, or the sides. They are very inexpensive (made entirely of fabric) and sport a version of the most current print of this summer – plaid! Gingham is similar to plaid but the overlapping stripes are a single color.

This outfit is also a perfect example of an easy and safe way to mix patterns. The color scheme is red and white also present in my striped shirt. The red gingham sandals add dimension to the outfit and complement the stripes without clashing. It also helps that the two patterns are visually separated by the white pants.
