After channeling an edgy ballerina in my previous post, I’m turning my attention to a more everyday practical outfit.
I am not sure exactly how correct I am with this association but I will tell you what my train of thought was for this outfit and the shoot location. I think it started with the Houndstooth patterned Schoolboy Blazer by J.Crew Factory.
The brand is known for its preppy style. Even though I don’t embrace it fully I do like to incorporate some of the characteristics of this style in my wardrobe. Especially when it comes to classic pieces like this blazer.
(I feel compelled to share that this leather belt is one of the two things I have left from my grandfather with whom I was extremely close as a child and who unfortunately passed away when I was a teenager. He was an officer in the Bulgarian military and this belt was part of his uniform.)
So let’s see if you can follow me – schoolboy blazer – school uniform – preparatory school – equestrian sports – horses – riding boots! Yes! If you have to have a pair of riding boots, then go with the Frye Melissa Button Boots. They have a classic pull on style and soft supple leather that only gets better as it ages.
Lucky for me, there are many horse farms around my house. Unfortunately, no horses decided to come over and take part in this photo shoot. These pieces are classic and withstand the test of time and the fickle nature of fashion trends and I know they will be part of my wardrobe for years to come. I have included some options in the links below and I was especially excited to find camel coats similar to mine and equally affordable.
