Wrinkles and Mini Skirts – Green Sweater Dress

So I was going to write this post about my cute green sweater dress and my blanket scarf and bracelets that I’ve been so in love with lately (that’s still to come.)  However, I couldn’t get some other thoughts out of my head.

So brace yourselves for a dose of introspection, or skip ahead for the details of the outfit!  Anyway, I’ve been noticing things lately.  It could be because I will be turning 36 next month, or it could be that with the photo lens turned on me I started studying and critiquing the high def images of me on the screen.  I’ve been seeing the signs of aging.  Not the obvious ones – like the laugh lines around my mouth even when I’m not laughing, or my gray hair that’s begging for an appointment at the salon.  It’s the other stuff –  it’s the gray hairs in my eyebrows, the shape of my fingers, and the latest one – the wrinkles above my knees that I noticed in the pictures below .  Now don’t go looking for them – I photoshopped them out!

So what are we supposed to do about this? There’s botox,  fillers and make up for the face,  hair color for the grays, lasers and injections for the spider veins.  But what about the knees?  Do we botox the knees, next?  Will that interfere with walking?  And then what about the other stuff?  What about the floaters in my eyes that showed up last year with their only excuse being that I turned 35! I don’t know what the answer is.  What I do know about myself is that I will do what I can to be healthy and fit and not worry about collagen and elastin leaving every inch of my dermis.  I will continue to do the superficial things of coloring my hair and applying make up and just accept the rest of my aging body for what it is, for what it has experienced and what it has learned.  Maybe I will need to stay away from mini skirts and shorts … Or maybe I will wear them proudly.  I don’t have all encompassing and definitive answers.  I will treat each outfit on a case by case basis.  What do you all think?

But back to the business of looking cute and current! If you read my previous post, you know I have the black version of these boots and love them so much, I had to get them in this pretty camel color. You can find them here.

And as you’ve probably noticed I’ve already dedicated kilos of bytes on the blanket scarf.  They come in many different colors and if you don’t have one, you should get one ASAP! And while you’re at it, get one for your mom, your friend, and your kids’ teachers.  Save 20% and use the code STEFANA20 when you shop here.

These wrap bracelets are my newest obsession – they are by the UK brand Boho Betty and are gaining great momentum in the US! Get ahead of the trend and be the first one among your friends to get them!  There are so many options to choose from, my head was spinning trying to decide which to get.  So I got a few! It is one bracelet that wraps around your wrist creating the layered look of three bracelets.  So cute! I need not say what an awesome holiday gift they make for the ladies on your list!  Get yours here and again, you can save 20% by using the code STEFANA20.  Happy shopping!

Stefana, Love the way your thoughts moved between self-acceptance and fashion. I agree with being in the moment, appreciating what we have and (sigh) paying the price 🙂

I am a fan Stephanie. Love love the boots. I am approaching 50 now and would agree with you, everything does catch up with you. Do the best you can to keep up and learn to love and accept yourself for who you are.
