Even though I’ve shared my dining room quite a bit lately, I wanted to show you how I use white accents and natural wood tones to create a neutral Thanksgiving table. I layer pieces with different textures to give my dining room a classic look for the holiday.

Thanksgiving Table Layers
Last year I hosted my first annual Friendsgiving. We had a great time and I am currently getting ready for the second installment. Because my Friendsgiving is for a large group, we end up using paper and plastic, sorry ladies! But when I host for a more intimate group, this is what I will do.

Instead of traditional fall colors to decorate my Thanksgiving table, I use neutral pieces already in my home. The first layer can be a table cloth or simple runner like I used here. Next, I add handwoven chargers and wooden napkin rings. These create contrast with the white plates and napkins. I highly recommend having a classic white set of dinnerware and cloth napkins. They can be used every day or dressed up for special occasions. I also have plenty of candles and candle holders on hand to mix and match for the right look. Finally, I add pieces to give my table the Thanksgiving touch. Here I display white faux pumpkins around my family’s favorite turkey shaped stoneware tureen.

When Thanksgiving transitions into Christmas
Since I don’t have many Thanksgiving specific pieces, I mix in a few transitional items to tie into the next holiday. By the time Thanksgiving rolls around, Christmas is already on my mind! Greenery is a great way to start introducing Christmas decor before it’s time to bring everything out.

These hoop wreaths (similar) with brass vintage bells and velvet ribbon are for Christmas. I think they go just fine with my Thanksgiving table!
Neutral Table Doesn’t Mean Boring Table!

The wall molding along with my dining chairs give the room depth and character without taking away from this beautiful Thanksgiving table. Check out my post to learn how to add custom wall molding to your home!
