You probably remember when I built these shelves and bench around the window in our loft area. I knew I wanted to dress up the window with a custom roman shade instead of the plantation shutters I have throughout my house.

A fabric roman shade brings texture and warmth to this otherwise very white space. I was thrilled that Willow Bloom Home agreed to work with me and make a custom shade for this window.
I chose the Harper Silver Roman shade. From afar it looks like a solid gray color but up close you can see the texture and intricate weave of the fabric. It has just the right amount of small scale pattern that won’t become boring or outdated.
I built the trim around the window to accommodate and inside mount shade. You need at least 2 inches for an inside mount. It was very easy to hang using the included hardware and pre-drilled holes.
This custom roman shade is also cordless (there are corded and continuous loop options available.) In my opinion, cordless is the safest and most seamless way to go. There is a little tab sewn into the back of the shade that you pull to open and close it.
There are also two options for lining – privacy and blackout. The lining I chose is privacy and as you can see it allows for a little bit of light to filter through. A blackout lining will completely block out the light.
