This remodel was done in phases. We first installed the mudroom cubbies on the old floor and painted the yellow walls. This was good enough for years.

This year we finally replaced the floor, the old sink, and added decorative molding and wallpaper.

▪️If white paint is not pure white, it will have undertone. It is made to look “off-white” by adding other colors to it

▪️Even pure white paint will reflect the colors of the furnishings around it and it will have an “undertone”

▪️If you don’t want undertones, go for as “pure white” as possible - the base unmixed color

▪️Paint the trim the same white as the walls or the two whites will highlight each other’s undertones

▪️Pure white paint doesn’t look stark, sterile, or clinical - the color of the light makes it appear so. Go for warm tone 2700K lightbulb to “soften” your whites.

▪️White paint looks best on walls with architectural details (molding, trim, windows, doorways), or on walls with gallery style decor.

👉The paint color in the video is Behr Ultra Pure White - the unmixed base color.

• Back then video wasn’t big so I didn’t document this update well. Hopefully these photos will help visualize each step.

• I laid cement board directly on the brick and attached it with mortar. Then I laid the marble tile on the cement board.

• I demoed the old fireplace to a point by removing the decorative small trim but keeping the mantel and the flat header. Then layered new trim pieces on top of that and attached with nails.
