Luxury Bathroom Floors

High-End Flooring Materials

Natural materials are the epitome of luxury when it comes to interior design. In the bathroom, choose things like marble for your flooring for the ultimate high-end look. There are plenty of ways to incorporate patterns and styles with marble. I chose the basketweave layout for the floor and traditional rectangular tiles for the walls – in the shower too!

Heated Floors

One of the most indulgent features of a luxury bathroom is heated flooring. Imagine stepping out of your shower or bathtub onto a mat warmed by the tiles below—an upgrade that adds a touch of everyday luxury, especially during colder months.

It’s not as expensive as you think to add the heated underlayment, and any contractor should be able to do it. We purchased our kits from Amazon, and our contractor easily installed them under the marble tiles and connected them to a thermostat on the wall.

High-End Materials for Plumbing and Hardware

Luxury is in the details! Choose high-end materials like brass, polished nickel, or matte black finishes for faucets, showerheads, and cabinet hardware. Pairing them with other luxury materials gives your bathroom a timeless and sophisticated look.

All of the plumbing fixtures in my primary bathroom are polished nickel as opposed to chrome. It has a shiny surface like chrome but with warmer undertones that pair better with the brass cabinet hardware.

Towel Warmers

This is something I didn’t think I needed until I got one during the cold winter months. Like the heated floors I mentioned above, heated towels are such a spa-like feature that you’ll eventually not be able to live without them. If you want to do it the luxurious way consider adding a wall-mounted towel warmer conveniently placed just outside the shower.

The more affordable option is a portable towel warmer. I have one, and it works great. You drop your towel in, turn it on, and it’s fully warm and ready to go by the time you’re done in the shower.

Toilet Features in a Luxury Bathroom

Water Closet for Added Privacy

A dedicated water closet, or enclosed toilet space, enhances privacy and elevates the overall layout. It’s a functional upgrade that provides a sense of separation within the bathroom. This feature requires extra space to allow for door clearance, but most modern homes are designed with spacious bathrooms.

Adding a bit of privacy for shared spaces makes sense for families with busy morning routines or moms with kids who lack boundaries.

I had some wallpaper left over from my primary bedroom makeover and the water closet was the perfect place to hang it. Adding it to the bathroom created a design connection between the bedroom and bathroom and is not affected by moisture from the shower.

Toilet Bidet with Heated Seats

A toilet bidet with heated seats is the pinnacle of comfort and cleanliness. Features like adjustable water pressure, temperature settings, and even air dryers make this a must-have upgrade for a high-end bathroom.

If you are looking for luxury bathroom features on a budget, there are less expensive ways to add the bidet experience to your home. Check out this bidet attachment from Amazon!

Luxurious Shower Features

Multiple Shower Heads for a Spa-Like Experience

Multiple shower heads can transform your daily shower into a spa experience. Consider dual showerheads, rain shower fixtures, and body sprays for a customizable and luxurious bathing experience. If you have a standard single showerhead setup, this feature requires the help of a plumber and contractor to make this option a reality.

Bluetooth Speaker Exhaust Fan

I don’t need water from every direction to get that spa-like experience but if you do, it’s worth every penny! What I do enjoy is a little music to get my day started. An exhaust fan with a built-in Bluetooth speaker is a modern, budget-friendly touch that is easy to install. Available at retailers like The Home Depot or Amazon, this upgrade lets you enjoy your favorite playlist or podcast while getting ready.

Shaving Niche for Convenience

If your shower doesn’t have a built-in bench, a shaving niche is a nice little feature that makes shaving a little easier. It’s a small, recessed shelf within the shower for your foot to provide support while you shave. It can also offer a dedicated space to keep razors and shaving cream if it’s large enough.

Luxury Bathroom Vanity

Besides having a bathroom vanity made of wood and other high-end materials, here are a couple more things to consider that will give your bathroom the luxury of convenience.

Hidden Medicine Cabinet with Built-In Outlet

For a sleek design, opt for a hidden medicine cabinet with a built-in outlet. This convenient feature keeps your electric toothbrush and other grooming tools charged and out of sight.

Medicine cabinets are not a “new” bathroom feature, but having everyday toiletries hidden behind a beautiful vanity mirror is a luxury. A professional will need to install the recessed frame and hidden electrical outlet.

Outlet Inside Drawer for Hair Styling Tools

Integrating an outlet inside a drawer is a practical addition for keeping hairdryers and curling irons accessible yet neatly stored. This upgrade eliminates countertop clutter, enhances the functionality of your bathroom, and creates the feel of a professional salon in your home.

Statement Lighting for Ambiance

Luxury bathrooms aren’t complete without well-designed lighting. Consider splurge-worthy fixtures paired with dimmable bulbs for a relaxing ambiance. Wall-mounted sconces around the vanity add a touch of elegance and provide task lighting. Here are the light fixtures in my primary bathroom.
