Open concept floor plans have become increasingly popular in recent years but they can present decorating challenges. Because multiple spaces are within view of each other, homeowners feel the pressure to make sure the design is cohesive and flows well from one space to the next. One of the questions I often get is how to choose coordinating rugs for an open concept floor plan. Usually the requests are for living room, dining room, and kitchen runner rugs. Generally speaking, the design rule of thumb is to go for rugs that are similar in style and have repeating colors. Even so, finding just the right coordinating rugs can be very hard. I have rounded up collections of rugs that are guaranteed to go well together in an open floor plan setting.

Loloi Rugs

Loloi is a brand that has taken over both regular households and high end designs in the recent years. The have many different collections of rugs of various materials and construction but their name has become synonymous with the vintage looking flat printed rugs. If you read online reviews, you’ll quickly discover that the general public either loves them or hates them.

The reason many people are disappointed is that these rugs are not traditionally fiber woven rugs. They are images of vintage rugs that have been digitally printed onto a flat mat surface. There is no pile, nap, or fiber on (most of) them. Once you know and are prepared for that, you can actually appreciate the advantages of this type of rug. Style-wise, they are at the top of the design trend currently. The brand has released collections in collaboration with big designer names like Amber Lewis, and influencers like Chris Loves Julia.

Traditional woven, hand knotted, tufted rugs, especially vintage ones that show wear and patina are designer favorites but they can be hard to find and also very expensive for the regular consumer. Loloi Rugs bridge that gap because they offer the look of an expensive vintage rug at a fraction of the cost. Some other advantages to these rugs is that they’re easy to swap out because they’re lightweight, easy to clean, they don’t shed, and are kid and pet friendly.

Coordinating Rugs From Loloi Collections

Loloi Rugs are branded by different collection names based on their style and construction, or by the name of the celebrity collaboration. Rugs within a collection are already very similar in style and some of them have an even smaller collection within the larger one. This makes coordinating rugs from Loloi very easy. I have rounded up some of my favorites in even smaller groups below.
